    Default Amtrak/MARC Collision

Yesterday evening, I saw on the news that a MARC commuter train and an Amtrak passenger train "collided" just outside of Baltimore station. It didn't really look like a collision to me; from the pictures it looked like the two trains had brushed up against each other. Only the last two cars of the MARC train and the two locomotives of the Amtrak train derailed. Only one passenger was taken to the hospital and service all along the Northeast Corridor was delayed. I'll post some pictures if I can find any.

NOT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! The last time that happened was with the Capitol Limited and a B&O division commuter train. The fuel tank of the F40 was punctured, and the MARC train lit on fire. That occurred just days after two NJ Transit trains collided.

Just two weeks ago, a New Jersey Transit Midtown Direct train derailed on the Kearny Connection.

Why am I suddenly having deja vu?

Yesterday a Amtrak train hit a gravel truck in Ashland Nebraska.

Yeah, I saw that on news, near Penn Station - they figure train crew error or signal error they say on the news, "one was switching onto another set of tracks as another came up and bumped it" - something like that.

Unfortunently I also heard here in Aberdeen someone got struck/hit by an Acela Express, the Boston to D.C. - doesn't stop in Aberdeen. I dont think its real bad but still, sad.

Man the BNSF and Amtrak are under heavy scrutiny by now I assume.

Well, yeah Amtrak is having a few problems, but you know you can't blame Amtrak for most of their accidents, a lot of the time it has nothing to do with the train crews error or anything... that's why I hate watching rail accidents on the news before they get information, sometimes they put it like its the train crews fault for whatever happened, but that's only a part of all this mess that's sort of happening now.

Just hope for the best of Amtrak and its future, I'm sure everything will be fine but you have to admit, Amtrak has a lot more trains running at once than most freight railroads - I see it that way. Especially since the NEC is electrified and they really have no time to do much if any problem would arrise on an instance such as someone walking on the tracks with headphones on... something bad like that. Fortunently, they dont have problems like that.

Any time two pieces of equipment come in contact, that is a COLLISION.
