Default SpyBot S&D finds something called DSO Exploit, what is

This annoys me, it is removed but I did another scan right afterwards and there it is again, in blazing red meaning it's a bad thing. Did a search and I found 20 zip files called DSOExploit 1 thru 19.

What is it? If it's red it means it's spyware. Can I remove these zip files?

EDIT: Oh and my MSTS comp's been a bit slow so I decided to download SpyBot today so I'm not so used to it.

    They're .zip files???

A DSO exploit targets Internet Exploder. (still can't figure out why people run it)

You are most likely seeing registry keys, not .zip files.

But yes, you can get rid of them.

Did you also check for updates to Spybot? Also make sure to "immunize" your system.

If the DSO exploits keep coming back, make sure you've done all the security updates from M$. You can also download dsostop2.exe from [link:www.wilders.org/downloads.htm|here.]

I got the latest Windows Update, I immunized the system and downloaded the newest SpyBot updates. I'll try that tool thingy.

EDIT: The zip files are the backups of the files found by SpyBot, I'll remove those.

Oh, those .zips were made by Spybot.

Yeah, their only purpose is if you want to undo a fix. As long as you don't want to reinstall the DSO exploits, you don't need the .zips. ;)

It could be a .reg key so when you do delete the program than the .reg key tells the coputer to redownload it so u might have to find the .reg key..that is what i had to do with that Golden Casino thing!!

I think so too as it says it's a registry change.

    Spybot checks the registry.

Type "DSO EXPLOIT" in Google and there will be way more than you care to read. I've had this for a long time, doesn't seem to be anything to worry about.

Yes it checks the registry and it even says it fixes the problem when in fact it does not. What you have to do is open the registry editor and go to the exact location discovered by Spybot and delete the entry from the registry manually.

Gets rid of it for me. What version are you using?
