    Let's see...where to begin?

Hmm, first you ought know that the Cannonball wasn't a passenger train. Truthly, the "Cannonball" which was imortilized by the song "The Wabash Cannonball" was a freight train.

IIRC, it was a hotshot freight train similar in nature to the Pacific Fruit Express.

Also, there wasn't just one. In fact at any given time there could be several on the lines. Usally they were described by direction. Like, Eastbound Cannonball, or Westbound Cannonball.

The Passenger train, with its beautiful blue grey and white colors, was called the "Bluebird." It often had no less than 5 dome cars in its roster, and was pulled behind a A-B-B-A, or in later years, A-B, or even A, F unit consist.

One WOULD assume such from the lyrics of the song....

"Oh, listen to the jingle, the rumble, and the roar as you roll along in safety on the Wabash Cannonball."

"listen" would seem to indicate that you're on board...

Look in Model Railroader (Sept. 04) for a b/w photo of the Bluebird as an ad for an upcoming special release.... Single E, combine, 2 domes, 2 coaches (perhaps 1 is a diner)....pretty late consist...
