I have a MSI Intel 815 chipset motherboard. and the drivers have never been updated. I'm running MS XP Pro. Can anyone offer advice as to whether there are new drivers that will enhance the operation of MSTS?

    Thanks in advance. Chuck F.

    Chuck,

Why not check the MSI site and see whats available for your MB.

Hi Derek; I did, but the installation instructions for custom installations is a bit beyond me at the moment. I would have to study them in great detail.

However, what I really like to know is if they are a real help for MSTS? I do have 512MB RAM, but still get a lot of stuttering. I have contemplated upgrading the motherboard, but do not know if the one I have is capable of being upgraded with new drivers, or if its settings are even set properly for MSTS.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Hi Chuck,

I don't see any improvement for MSTS in upgrading anything related to bios.

The windows NT kernel, which includes NT, 2000 and XP only uses the bios for booting.

You might get a little speed bump out of using the Intel Application Accelerator IDE driver utility. I've used it many times at work on i81x -series boards for a little hard drive speed boost, especially the i815E. Intel stopped updating it at version 2.2.3 to refocus it as a RAID utility around the release of the 865-series chipsets, but it will pretty much work with any 800-series chipset up to the 845 series. Check out Intel's site in the Chipset Software section, it's maybe 2 megs or so.

Thanks, Mr F. for the suggestion. I've got installed, so I will just have to see if there is an improvement.

Thank you, both, for the replies. Cheers; Chuck F.
