Default Cotton Belt Fans, maybe you can answer this...

Just curious, and have been for years, but never asked anybody this. But what is the Cotton Belt logo supposed to be?
    [Link Expired]
What are the different "cut-outs" supposed to signify?

I know that the old Frisco emblem was supposed to be a stretched-out coon-skin, but what is the significance of the SSW shape? Is there any historical reason? I'd be interested to know. Thanks!

You might have to have Chad answer that one, I know that why it is called the cotten belt is because through Arkansas there is nothing but COTTON, so I guess that is where they got the name. Frisco was before Cotton Belt, and I think BN Bought Frisco then SP Bought Cotton Belt, that is why some have the SSW, then you should know the rest, BN and SF joined, and UP and SP joined, somebody correct me if I'm wrong:)

    Thanks,

It was gin saw. It was the shape of a saw that chopped up or ginned cotton. And since there a lot of cotton produced in Arkansas, I mean a lot of it, thus the name the cotton belt. And a bale of cotton is very heavy. I hope that answers your question.

What is a gin saw, is it the thing that cuts the seeds out of the cotton when they take it to the gin???

    Thanks,
