Default Great BNSF Article in TRAINS

If you don't get TRAINS, there is a great, nicely written section in the new issue about BNSF and it's transcon route. Lot of photos and maps. It must be about 10 or 12 pages that goes into great detail about how BNSF has prospered since the two railroads merged nearly 9 years ago. Very informative reading.

Wow, the October issue is available in August??

I've always wondered why magazines bother with months, I've never actually purchased a magazine in the month that's written on the cover!

    Off to my local bookstore!

September 22, 1995 is the day that BN purchased the ATSF and September 23, 1995 is the day that ATSF took over the operation of the BNSF. The only thing that kept the old GN and NP out of bankruptsy was the old CB&Q and where I come from is still affectionately referred to as the "Q"!
