Default Via streamliner trains seen in Scifi

I was watching Strange World on Scifi today and in one episode there was a kid talking to some A.I. thing on the net that caused various inferstructure systems to fail. The kid was running with a scientist on a train that was supposed to be running out of Penn Central but it was made of cars from VIA's The canadian trainset. There was another train stopped on the tracks that was being evacuated and it too was VIA streamliner cars. Why would they use Canadian trains?

I don't know exactly what it is that you're describing, but I'd bet that VIA has the best available stainless-steel trainset in matching colors. Amtrak seems to have devoured much of Budd and Pullman-Standard's domestic production, so the Canadians are the next best thing.

Might be the series is shot in Canada. Take a look at the credits at the end of the show and it will tell you where it is filmed.

It's called "Strange World" 1999 and credits on IMDB say Canada/USA.
So it was partialy shot in Canada which explains the stremlienr cars.
