I soon shall share your sucess. I have passed my physical and background check. I start my training with the UP Oct. 11th Im looking forward to it. But the downside is, since im more than 45 miles away from the training site, I get to live in a hotel room for 14 weeks. I hope it has internet access. But im glad you made it. Good luck on the high iron.

Congrats on entering the world of railroading. I know it's been preached to you already, but be safe. Nothing is more important than going home alive. Especially at the age of 19, you may think you're indestructable but this stuff can step on you so quickly you'll never know what happened. We just lost a 26 year old man here in Clovis in an accident. Just make sure to stay safe at all times!

I'm lucky I only work for the railroad for 8 weeks out of the year.
The other 10 months I've got my hands full with 70 raging high school kids that leave somethign to be desired. But as he said you got to be careful.

Congrats. Its alot of stuff to digest but it will all come together the more you work. Just curious... did you get qualified to use remote control?

Some advice: (as clovis mentioned) Be safe out there. Trains are never forgiving. You always lose. Also, listen to the old heads. They are always full of helpful advice (and other things too).

Best of luck. This is a great time to hop onboard.

Too bad you didn't get hired before July 1. You'll have to start out at the 75% payscale. It was a huge boost in pay for us newguys.

Yeah the lady from Omaha explained that to us. And we also have to take a class to calculate your pay. We had three people who transferred from MOW, they started class the following Monday. Another group of seven will start Tuesday, and the rest of us start Oct. 11th.
