    Default MTA on one fare?

A while back I saw a show on the subway in which some people tried to set a record for riding all of the MTA routes on one fare. How would they do that?

They pay, walk through the turnstyle, and can ride any amount of trains as long as they don't leave a station. If they went back in the station they would have to pay again.

Isn't there a time limit that you can use your ticket for before you have to pay again? I know on the St. Louis Metrolink, one ticket is only good for 2 hours after validation.

<---I hope you're all talking about this MTA!

Sawblade, no, there is no time limit on one fare. Live in the subway if you want! (This is not recommended, though entirely possible).

AEM7, where've ya been? New York City Transit discontinued tokens months ago--even on the Roosevelt Island cable car! And even THAT isn't NYCT!!!

Nobody specified which MTA they were talking about. Boston's MBTA (the former MTA) still uses tokens, so it is entirely possible to ride all the heavy-rail lines from end to end on one fare.

Yes it was New York Underground and they rode redbirds at one point. Missed most of it. DTMS runs it every now and then. Did they ride the second ave line in it?

Doesnít Boston's Subway close at night?

NY's MTA uses Metro cards now, you just swipe and ride and it is getting harder and harder to find a live person to sell you a metro card. Everything is automated.

    Cheers,
    Larry
