    Default Great Rapid Transit Idea

When a cat is dropped, it always lands on its feet, and when toast is dropped, it always lands with the buttered side facing down. If you strap buttered toast to the back of a cat, the two will hover, spinning inches above the ground. With a giant buttered cat array, a high-speed monorail could easily link New York with Chicago.

There is a website somewhere on a Chicago - NY Maglev system. If it doesn't exist, guess the idea got tossed.

It looks like the Seattle Monorail is going to go to ANOTHER election in November which is total BS....

Can Strawberry Jam (no preservitives) be substituted for Butter? Does it have the same lift.

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

This will require some testing. I have two stray cats that have wandered up to my doorstep. I can puree some buttered toast and feed it to them. Then, with welding gloves on, I can grab them and strap them to my G Scale trains and test. I will post the results, if I survive the experiment.

Rather than risking your own butt, you should get Bill Bzak (longhairedwizard) to try it. He has previous experience with wierd experiments involving cats.

Alas, the experiment appears to be a failure.

Both cat and train have departed for points unknown, following the strap-on procedure.

Local authorities have advised me not to conduct further experiments, so unless a better scientist comes along, I can only offer that I can levitate trains with cat, but cannot control direction or attitude.

Well, looking for alternates that wouldn't involve cats, may have found something different. No good as an antigravity device, but might make a hell of a well drilling machine. I strapped John Kerry to Monica Lewinsky, got something that oscillates back and forth while repeatedly going down. :o
