Default Interstate Commerece Accident Reports Online

Been doing some research on local railroads and have been looking into ICC reports on railroad accidents.

There is alot of interesting information in these reports.

    Happy Hunting!

Some interesting but still scary information.

A wreck that I've always found fascinating was the 2-12-80 wreck between B&O trains at Orleans Road in West Virginia. It involved the first fatality of a female employee in train and engine service, Barbara Jean Hopkins and destroyed WM GP40-2 4367.

Hey Jeff, was that the one where they just buried the entire unit in the hillside and left it, or am I thinking of a different one?

You're thinking of a different one.

All the units involved in the Orleans wreck were taken to the B&O shops at Cumberland, and pending investigation, the units wore placarded with "no tresspassing" signs.

There are gruesome pictures of the units involved at Railpictures.net and on Dean Heacock's Chesssie Archives sight.
