    Default What is "BB25660"?

Is this 'BB25660' a Big Boy Repaint (judging by the size). There's no picture that comes with it. As far as I know there's no Big Boy with a number of 25660. All the Big Boys are numbered somewhere between 4000 and 4030.

and don't knock it because its:
    a) French
    b) Electric
    c) a lot prettier than the Big Boy will ever be.

    to put the record straight:
BB 25500 class electric no BB25660
    Wheel arrangement B-B (2x 2 axle trucks)
Power Supply Voltages: 1.5kV DC/25kV AC Dual Voltage Overhead
Power Continuous Rating*: 2940kW (3940 HP)
Weight: 89 metric tonnes (90 tons)
    Top speed: 90/150 km/h (56/93 mph) - DC/AC respectively
In the spring of 1990 was based at Acheres depot, Paris (thats my only info on it).

    * Continuous Rating - the maximum power deliverable over extended periods of time.

Oh, come on, you really think the UP Big Boy is a pretty engine???? It was one of those things that is so ugly you sort of gotta love it! It was designed to be utilitarian, not pretty. If they wanted pretty they would have covered it with streamilining sheets of metal.

In comparison the French BB25660 is a "pretty" engine, curved in all the right places and it serves the purpose it was built for as did the Big Boy ion its time.

ack! The BB is prettier lol but then my preference is steam and compared the the FGW Class 180 Adelente neither are pretty lol as it or a number of other sleek Euro locos!

But in the States, I prefer the steam locos!!
