    Default Amfleet I Animated Doors

I downloaded the NALW NEC Mega Pack with the 48 Amfleet Cars included, first I have to say what a job well done!!! These cars are worlds better, a huge improvement over the junk the game came with!!! I'm so glad someone finally redid those cars. My question is, according to NALW's documentation, the NEC Painted cars have animated doors. I set up a consist with these cars and the doors always stay open when the train moves? Is this normal or am I using the worng cars? I ran the consist on both the NEC V4.0 Route and the Marias Pass 3.1 Route and the same thing happened. Is there a key or series of keys needed to be pressed to make the doors work? Also, any idea if anyone will be making Amfleet II Coaches or Viewliners, or possibly Heritage Diners? I really want to run the Lake Shore Limited in Train Sim! Everything else seems to be available except for the aformentioned cars. Any help would be appreciated...

Hey, Geno. Let me ask you this: Was the engine you were using an electric engine? I believe that you can only use electric engines with cars whose doors open, because I think that the opening doors are just a way of fooling the sim.

Either way, if you say you ran the train on MP 3.1, then you probably have a diesel engine hooked up to it.

So, I'd say either re-do the consist, but with one of the AEM-7s at the helm, or add "third rail" to MP 3.1, convert whatever engine you're using into electric, and run it there.

So yes, in short, it should just be a matter of having an electric engine.

    And welcome to the forums!

I've found that using an electric loco, you can lower the pantograph (pressing P) and the doors open.

I'm still trying to figure out how to make them stay closed if using a diesel loco.

I guess that's what I was trying to say all along...

I believe you'd have to edit the actual shape files, or just make a consist of amfleets whose doors do not open.

Correct! We included both animated and non-animated versions of the Amcans.... RTFM (Read The Fine Manual) applies! ;-)

I find it amusing that Brain sent me to Geno's site last week for reference pics of current NALW F40 projects.

I was looking and wondering why

If Geno Likes Amtrak & Trains

    &

    Obviously likes computers

Why the heck do we never see this guy at TrainSim.com

    5 days later

    Geno.

    Welcome to Train Sim.com Geno

PS: Hey 3001 posts ..... Does that put me in " Blabbermouth Staus " with Chuck , Kev , & Sniper ??

    I'll clarify a little more anyway :)

There are Phase III paint Amfleets that do not have animated doors for diesel use. Basically, if there is something in the name (as it appears in the consist editor) that has some reference to the Northeast in it, it has animated doors. If not, it doesn't.

Again, currently there are only 5 Phase III coaches without them. Currently, anyway.... ;)
