Default Missing Pieces on models....

LAST EDITED ON Jun-12-02 AT 11:31AM (EDT)[p]Ok folks, I am working on my gp60m exporting the S file with
the GMax plugin. I am having difficulty with several things.

First) Any pieces that aren't 'attached' or booleaned (union) to the MAIN piece disappear when the model is converted. This is frustrating because attaching and uniting, while making one solid mesh, makes texturing a pain. Do I just bite the bullet and agonize through this process or is there another way? Am I missing a step or do all the pieces need to have the LOD defined....WHAT DID I DO WRONG?

C) When I attached a number of pieces, while the loco still was not whole, and exported just as a test. The wheels on the bus do not go round and round... why aren't the wheels animated?

7) The rear bogie doesn't seem to want to rotate on it's pivot..

Sixthly) Why does god hate me? ;-)

Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope....

Sounds as though the parts aren't set up in a hierarchy:

MAIN
- BOGIE1
---WHEELS11
---WHEELS12
-BOGIE2
---WHEELS21
---WHEELS22
-MISCPARTA
-MISCPARTB
-WIPERARMRIGHT1
---WIPERBLADERIGHT1
-WIPERARNLEFT1
---WIPERBLADELEFT1

You can display the relation to the parts by bringing up the "Display by Name" tool, and selecting the "Display Subtree" checkbox. You could also use the "Display Scematic View" window - both functions are in the Main tool tab.

Cheers!

Don't know if GMax has this, but have you set the number of animation frames the loco will have? Might be the answer to your wheel rotation....

Hack is correct.

You M U S T adhere to the modeler heirarchy requirements as laid down by the Train Sim Tech Docs. If you don't... well, you already see what happens.

As I understand things in Gmax all pieces must have a LOD defined as well.

sigh... Thanks guys! How do you assign the LOD to other pieces? It has to be included in the heirarchy right? So that means they all have to be linked to the MAIN?

Did you give the model animation frames more then 1? If it's one, nothing is going to turn....I like 8 the best....

Take care!
