Default Those of you wanting to repaint

There are 3 posts on the first page asking how to repaint. "What do i need", "i'm having trouble repainting", and "Changing the paint scheme on an existing loco". They all have the same answer because they are the same question. All you have to do is read this post: Read this post:

Several people have asked how I do my night textures. Below are the basic techniques. You will need either Photoshop or an equivalent package to do some of these effects.

Might be easier if you say what you are having problems with.

If you want to keep it civil then I have One small phrase of advice; ASK PERMISSION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need to have permission from the maker of the original model and the maker of any textures you use...

You can get permission from a "blanket permission to use" statement in the documentation or by applying to the original modelers and painters for a license!

If you get a license then follow its terms very carefully!

IF YOU FAIL TO GET PERMISSION DO NOT RELEASE YOUR REPAINTS!

You would be in technical violation of the original modeler's and painter's copyrights! And thus open the door to all kinds of bad things. :-(

But remember we are not ogres and most of us try to help and encourage our licensees. :-)

    Bob,

Jim England got a little ahead of himself there....
The only valid copyright he might hold is for his textures if significantly different from ours. then the argument could be made that they are merely a derivative of our original copyrighted work.

So, no his license does not trump ours!

At the very least you need to apply to us for a license.
And for good form, after you get permission from us you should also ask Jim if you can base your repaint on his!

Basically we still own the rights to the model and the basic textures.
Everything else is merely a licensed derivative so it still rolls up to our original copyright!

As a matter of fact I do have something to paint CN. I'd like to see a fictional CN Genesis.
