* Version and Release Date: Version 1.0, 5/3/03

* Description (~100 words or less): The Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railway was originally built as the Wabash-Pittsburgh Terminal Railroad by George Jay Gould, who was hoping to capture a considerable amount of Pittsburgh's Steel mill freight traffic, because of a promise made by Andrew Carnegie. When the PRR heard of the news they immediately cut their freight rates and the steel traffic never materialized. The new road soon went into receivership and was reorganized as the Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railway. With a watchful management and increasing coalmine traffic the road became very profitable.
