    Default Questions about Trainz

    Hi,
I'm new to this forum. I have MSTS and usually post there.

However, tomorrow I will be receiving my copy of Trainz, and from looking at the screenshots, trains, user-friendly route building, etc I can't wait to get it.

My first question is: when it comes to re-skinning and building new cars etc, does Trainz offer the capability to do that or do I have to buy an add-on program?

Second, I noticed in a few screenshots on this forum, that one fellow had two CP Rail F Units and CP Passenger cars making up the Canadian. Does that set come with trains?

Third, can you ride in the passenger coaches (like option 5 in MSTS)?

Well, look forward to hearing your replies.

    Thanks in advance

No you dont have to buy third party programe. Trainz comes ready shipped with G-max. Also Auran will be releasing a program called Trainz Paintshed go here for more info.

I dont think the coaches come with Trainz but the CP F units certainly do. I think this is where you can get it to. http://trainz.luvr.net/projects-view.php?pid=146

Also loads more quality Downloads are available at the site. take your time and check it out. Would be an idea to Bookmark the page.

Unfortunately not. But this could be done later on.

Well, I received my copy of Trainz and I love it.
The sound is awesome, love the flexibility of building consists, etc. The layouts are a bit small at time and easy to complete quickly, but hey you can always build a new one.

    My question is this:
I have a brand new Dell PC, (I'll try and remember the specs while I'm here at work) Pentium 4 chip, 40GB, Top of the line Video Card, it was only purchased this past January.

However, Trainz asked me to update my Drivers to DirectX 8 I think it was. How do I find the drivers and update and make sure I have the correct settings?

The game runs slow when I switch to different consists and the Caching bar comes up.

Anyway to fix this? I really would appreciate any help.

    Thanks.

Ok Well I am glad you like trainz. You will have to update to DX 8 if you havent all ready plus you will have to download the latest patch from the Trainz web site. Have you been to the forum on there...if not I suggest you do so and register. Can you remember your top of the line vid card at all?
the caching bar and slow up is normal for trainz.... just dont have your settings on too high. Try and keep them to default. then gradually move them about to suit your PC
Run over to the other forum we are on there.

    Thanks Hentis for the help.

I have registered and am exploring the forums there right now actually.

I was looking for the latest patch on the website but since I bought the retail version it said it came with it and I couldn't find another patch on their site.

Also, where would I get the latest version of Direct X? Off the trains website?
