    Default Practice Foaming

Was working a 7 P.M to midnight shift at the store last saturday so I took advantage of the free daytime hours for foaming!
It had been a while since I had been out on a serious railfanning trip so I set our destination for Barstow, we started out by exploring the engine shops to find a new addition to their deadline

I seriously think that that was the first time I've ever gone back there and not found something interesting. We left that spot and headed for Dagget/Yermo where we found a UP train parked waiting to get onto the BNSF, it's funny how every train I seem to get in this location has a notched nosed 70M on the lead. Perhaps NEXT time will provide good lighting

Right as he got the signal, a BNSF manifest pulled up to the crossing down the road for a crew change. I think one of the best parts about Dagget is that the trains always seem to come two at a time.

This train had the first of many Ferromex units to show up that day

Back acrossed the track, this train snuck up on us a bit due to lack of ditchlights , after he got by us though the string of EMD's sure made a nice sound

    Another Ferromex

You really can't miss out on a place that averages a train every 12 minutes. Infact living up to the "two trains at a time" rule, the 2nd train came up so quickly I didn't have time to get the telephoto off and wide angle on.

We headed into Barstow to visit the station, and managed to find a rail train sitting waiting for a signal.

Some railcar art on a BN boxcar in the rail trains consist. This art makes me think I've shot this car before

The lunchtime lull that seems to follow me around set in and we began to head out of the yard towards Cajon ( or more likely , Bobs Bigboy in Hesperia ) but as we got to route 66 I saw something colorful coming in off the line from Tehachapi. I thought this might be a good chance to try out the telephoto location so I headed to a new spot.

Now I heard that everything in the cab of these engines are written in spanish, wouldn't that make them a little hard to lead ? I'm not complaining

    http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/4581/21007134zv2.jpg

I thought this might be a bit rare, but even if not, it's not green and orange so I shot it

It wasn't even a total of 2 minutes after the head end of this train passed that another Ferromex showed up. I think Ferromex is the new NS

We headed out of Barstow to Hesperia where we found a stack train meeting a coal train, the stack train had the good old Cajon helpers on it. Due to the suns position and the location of the Bobs Bigboy Restraunt this was the last train of the day.

Thanks Jay ! As I said they are practice as it's been a while since I've been out and I'm a bit rusty. Hoping to get out and practice some more this weekend and catch the soon-to-be-famed UP 7605 as it goes down Cajon :)

the FXE units have things written in both Spanish and English, and there is a switch inside the electrical cabinet that flips the computer screens from Spanish to English..all the one's i've had have been junk!

But VERY VERY nice shots Shane..now i'm wanting a bigger and better camera!!
