    Default UP 7605

Well as I said, I'd be out to get this unit if it went down Cajon in daylight on Saturday and it DID :p

I started my day off at Dagget early saturday morning, the sun was just coming up and the trains were already moving. The tracer said the unit was at Kelso so I tryed a few different locations.

It really wasn't long at all before the train got closer so I chose the location I wanted to get it in. I tested my ideas on a UP train coming off onto the BNSF

The next train down the line was the KG2LB with 7605 3rd in tow. It wasn't leading but atleast it was there. The Two units I was focusing on were the 7605 and 06

It was riding the blocks of another train because as soon as he got in the clear of the switch he stopped again

We chose the next location as Barstow, but the sun wasn't that good for this position.

I wasn't sure where I wanted to get him next so I hopped on the freeway, I wound up getting off at Hesperia only to find that they were stopping him a bit up the line for track work. They were letting trains through on the other main and I guess the 25+ Hour late KG2LB wasn't high enough priority to get past.... a baretable

After about an hour , the KG2LB made it's way along Santa Fe Avenue and by this time the Foamers were out in force. We jockey'd for spots along the road with people who also wanted a glance at this unit.

The Road split from the tracks and the speed picked up, it went back and forth between here and summit allowing for a few more spots to be utilized by the group of us.

This is a spot I've tried once before with the first UP ACe's. I liked it and seeing as no other railfans even tried it I thought it'd be an interesting shot

    http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/323/21707100nu1.jpg

Every spot between the 138 and summit were taken so we stuck out a spot above 138, I like this angle especially for this light

The next spot I could think to hit would be swarthout canyon crossing, I'm glad I got this spot as I was able to snag a meet

My last spot on the chase was Devore because my driver and my videographer were hungry. I had no problem with that as I'd seen my unit. We DID snag a train with another Ferromex GEVO on it at Devore though

They are doing a Green Locomotive tour in California this week.

Last night in West Colton they lined up any "enviromentally friendly " locomotives they could find in the area including this specially painted unit , the 7606, and a green goat and started giving tours. Then at 10 P.M they tied them up to some passenger cars (The UP flagged business car was there too ) and they are currently on their way to making an appearance in Roseville, Fresno, Stockton, Oakland, and then back down to Los Angeles.

Direct link to UP's statement along with a GPS tracker to watch where the train goes and a schedule to find out when it'll be in which area.

Word is that as soon as this train is done with it's california tour the 7605 will get painted into the regular UP scheme

Thats an interesting unit. Actually, today on T.V. on Big Machines, or whatever the program was, it should this unit, and another UP unit on a freight train.. I don't know what the show was talking about, but it was showing the train. "test" crashing into cars at road crossings..

I kinda want this unit for MSTS, would look good on the Willamette Pass and Whitefish 7
