Thread: Freeware Cajon Pass

    Wow! What a great route!
Unfortunately, I can only get as far as Bandini, then my computer freezes.
I still hear sound, but the train has frozen in place. Then the sim closes.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Is there a way to start at a location other than LA? It would be great to start in San Bernardino...then I could get to Hesperia before the freeze-up.
    Thank You,

    Forrest

Try turning your detail sliders down first.....

Next, there are utilities you can get to reduce the amount of programs running in the background, which will free up memory for MSTS. Check the file library here or on the Steam4Me(dont have the link just now...Google it)

Another idea....try using Train Store.....store as many routes\rolling stock as you can.

Last but not least consider installing MSTS Bin V1.6.....it has features that help MSTS manage memory better.

    Good luck

    Thanks TJ,
    I'll try those things.
Interestingly enough...when I turn the "operation-good graphics" slider down I can't start the route. I get the message, "Train world Initialization Failed". I have to restore the the defaults to just start this route.

I would install Bin1.6, its a crash fest without it.

I had the same problems. Check your system to see if you are using an Nvidia graphics card and a sound blaster audio card. If so, there is a fix for the problem. Check the sound section of the forum.
