    2. ADFRR
    3. Illinois Eastern V.3 ( Only about 25 miles long, but with scalerail and 60 mph tracks with a ton of industies.
    4. GMOSS (Probably the highest detail route in existence, requires a really good system to run. I wish I could run it.)
    5. North East Corridor V.4 - added a lot of trackage to the default NEC
    6. Kootenai River Sub
    7. Sandpoint to Whitefish and Eastport

While I think it has most to do with personal tastes, there is one route in my mind that will always dominate.... for reasons like being one of the earliest, biggest, and baddest. It was built by a forumite called Enocell, one of the earliest hard core contributors to the sim in many ways.

The Newark & and New Jersey route based in the 1970s is complex, full of detail, and simply put, a real experience to run on.

Really, worth a serious look about even if just for novelty purposes.

Not going to limit it to ten:

Only freeware routes I have installed (other than Rich Garber's but they are at AVSIM, so won't count) are:

    Cajon Pass by Patrick Wise
NS Atlanta and Macon by O'brian Jones.

On the docket to be installed and therefore recommended (in no particular order):
NS Pocahontas (and the other NS routes, there are about four total in this district)
    CSX BlueRidge
    Marias 3.1
    Marias Koontenai (sp?)
    Whitefish 7
    Conrail-Indy
    GN Highline
    Seligman Sub

Lots of others worth looking at also!!!

    Thanks for all the replies!

Has anyone tried the GM&O Northern Lines route yet?
It comes in a 13 part installer I understand.
