    Default Mars light showing different colors...

    I am running the 3D Trains F7 unit pulling the Train Artisan Budd-built passenger cars textured by Bill Hemb for CP Rail's "The Canadian."

    I have Bin 1.7 installed.

    I notice that the locomotive headlight glow ahead turns white to red to white continuously as if it had a headlight with a rotating red lens. The headlight itself remains white. The locomotive only has one headlight (and no Mars light or Gyralite). The headlight pattern moves however and looks like it has a Mars light or Gyralite.

    The last car in the consist (a Park series observation/dome car) has a red Mars light. Could this have something to do with it? They don't match however. For example: The locomotive headlight's forward glow is red when the Park car's red Mars light isn't necessarily at full intensity or even on.

    The effect is the same whether I have the locomotive headlight on high, dim or even off. This had never happened before installing the very useful Bin 1.7.

    I am including two jpg views looking at the front of the locomotive to show what is happening.

    Which 3DTrains F Unit? Which version? Is it one of Marc's or is it a re-skin? All this will be helpful. Also, maybe post the lighting section from the .eng file.

    Thanks Joe. It is a reskin of the 3D Trains F7 unit version 3.0b. I have since found it probably doesn't have anything to do with the observation/dome's Mars light because I still get the same effect when there is a car without that light on the end of the consist.

    Remove the "penalty shpere of light" section and drop your numbers of lights at the top by one value and the red tint will be gone. The Bin patch does not handle the penalty sphere of light properly.

    Which 1.7 version are you using? This penalty light issue was fixed. It does not appear in the version I am using, 1.70211.

    I use version 1.7.010302 High Mem, which is recommended for Windows XP.

    The next one, 1.70211 fixes the penalty light issue. So your choices are to upgrade or to remove the penalty light section as Bill suggests.
