Exclamation PRR-ER and related route issues

Any member that downloaded the PRR-ER public beta from either CLW or MSTS File Library, have any issues related to the route, activity, S/DS crash, or creating new activities that keeps crashing, and so on. PLEASE go to Columbus Locomotive Works and/or 3DTrains web sites to post issues. Most answers can be found on both sites, and it would be a lot easier for route creators to understand issues. We can help!

    Thank you
    Dave Edwards

    PRR Eastern Region Secretary

Any future information related to the PRR Eastern, including upcoming private and the next public updates, will be found on the CLW site.

We can be more explicit about the release of the PRR eastern and Central regions as of today. We believe the release date will be between 15 December 2010 and 1 January 2011. We are waiting to see if our formal beta testers as defined by me will come up with other errors which needed to fixed. We are freezing the tdb at this point and we want to make sure all obvious kinks are ironed out.

This is caused when X Track is added to a route that was not horaced and contains dynamic track who's entries are now corrupted in the tdb. Look at the route in the AE and you will see strange scroll markings instead of smooth paths on the pieces of dynamic track affected. As the video shows, strange things happen to trains that hit the corrupted path, anything from jumping miles down the track, to looping, to consists flying apart. If you attempt to use. delete, or adjust dynamic track in such a route, it will be destroyed upon a save. A single engine can run on such a corrupted route while doing strange things. A consists usually just explodes in all directions.

The NEC section of the PRR between Philly and DC suffered from this problem. Until Chuck Richert developed his Dyntools, a program that physically recreate the tsection.dat file and fixed entries in the TDB, the only other fix was to bridge the corrupted dynamic track with X Track. Without his help, extending the PRR Eastern to Pittsburgh would have not been possible.

Don't know how, but with all of the copies out there, some of you may be missing some textures in the central New Jersey branch. I have posted the missing files at CLW for the Beta Testers.

Seeing that attachments handling on Train Sim had changed and until such time as the next route update is posted, here is a temporary link to the missing textures.

As always, be careful of any popup or popunder ads.

Sorry folks, but as of 1-20-2012 (1984?) Megaupload was seized by our favorite Justice Department.
The link will just redirect you to a warning poster. That update is now gone until the next route update can be uploaded to the forum library.

Some PRR Eastern Region news: we have been lazy for the last year and have been sleeping. We have, however, inspired by Austin Yoder's work, revamped Altoona and made it look like it should look. We have yet to release it to the beta testers so no final date for release has been decided. Credit for track work goes to Ron as usual I did all the signaling with Hank looking over my shoulder; everything was tested by Jessica Zonaras. Also, Ron and I are awaiting the arrival of the first segment of the PRR Western Region which goes from Pittsburgh to chicago. Yes folks we are nuts enough to begin again. The Eastern Region's tdb will be frozen, although it will remain in beta (yes folks we can have our cake and eat it too).

Work on the Eastern Region is near completion. Just some bug testing and activity fixes needed before the official upload.

For those that can't wait, here is a direct link to the beta for PRR Fix 07. http://dc260.4shared.com/download/SygsRJ0I/PRRFix07.rar Included is the texture fix lost in the Megaupload seizure.

Beta testers have found two misnamed platforms in Pittsburgh which will be corrected. Please refer to any other bugs you find to the CLW PRR public section at their website. Once their work is completed, the update will be posted here as well as a link to the fully updated public beta which is 1.8G compressed.

The first installment of the PRR Western came in at a mind boggling 7G compressed. That was a one hour download from 4 Shared. It is mostly Demmed tile files and nearly every shape and texture out there available. Needless to say it has gone on a diet to remove dead files and unused textures. But, at least, the TDB appears sound. Track along the Northern Mainline has been consolidated with several yards there redone to proper ladder tracks. The big yards East appear OK having been set up with proper ladder tracks in them. Also, the grade changes have been done in small steps which will make this route much smoother to run in hilly areas. Some areas have basic scenery already install but much of the route is still bare at this time. Still, once several of us start to work on scenery, I wouldn't be surprised if it takes another 10 years before it reaches Chicago. Nice to have two second save times instead of taking two minutes when dealing with track.

Like a model layout in the basement, such work is never done.
