Default Lehigh Valley Switch Engine Early Paint Schemes

    Hi,

Initial paint scheme on many Lehigh Valley switch engines was an attractive grey and red separated by a curving yellow stripe on the hood sides. Did the yellow stripe curve over the top of the hood or continue straight across the hood ? Would like some repaints to be correct.

Extensive Internet and library reference searching did not turn up any top down views of this paint scheme.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Well, then you may be interested to know that the Anthracite project will include a complete line of switchers, INCLUDING NW1A's, which the older engines will be acompanied by the early grey and red scheme. On the top of the hood the yellow stripe came to a point, which pointed towards the front if i remember correctly.

Colorized BW photo shows the scheme as it was kept clean on a clear summers day:

    Not my photo^

It is unclear yet wether it will be me or Rick that will do the Alco switcher in this scheme, probably me, lol.

As any new updates to the project, including engines with that scheme, will be posted there.

Glad to see we've found another Valley Fan !

    Nate,

That's a new one on me as well. Do you have any cab rear views?

....or maybe I WILL let you do it

    Nate,

Thanks for the stripe placement info. Your fleet of switch engines and the entire Anthracite Project will be a great addition to MSTS.
