When I downloaded it and installed all the packages and opened msts it said cannot open this file (the files being the coaster engines)

What was the exact error?

You are missing that engine.

One other thing, MSTS cannot handle 44100 sounds without BIN. Do you have BIN installed?

I'm not missing that engine because I checked and it's there! And I couldn't install BIN because it said something about my msts not being a previous version????????????

You MUST read, understand and carry out all the required actions of all relevant readme files. MSTS is not Plug 'n' Play and to get it working properly, you have to get your hands dirty!!

I am getting this same error message. I have checked the Trainset folder and SDNX_2101 file is there, and the file includes the .eng.
I have BIN installed.

Yes, first step here is to get BIN installed. You really will have poor results without it.

Before BIN can be installed you have to install the msts update from the microsoft website. There are a number of tutorials about it here or at steam4me.com.
