    Default Doncaster Works DLC

One of the things about the new DLC is the complete isolation of the Works from the mainline railway system. Examining Google Earth (2002 image) I found that there are several interchange tracks. The above photo is one. If anyone from the UK region has better information than can be gleaned from Google I would be pleased to hear of it. Contract via Private Message on these forums. Thanks

    Default Another connection?

Here's another view of the Doncaster area today (from Bing Maps):

... and here's the corresponding location from the Doncaster Works route,

The two yellow circles show yard stubs that, at the real Doncaster, connect the locomotive works area to the adjacent main lines and station area. I've sent these two images to RS and suggested that the connections be inserted so that traffic can pass between the two areas.

    1) Because I prefer to ask the folks who made the route in the first place to make adjustments to it.

    2) Because any changes I might make to the route would be written over rather quickly, and, before you even say it,

    3) Because I don't see the point of maintaining multiple RW2 installations walled off from Steam.

    4) Because I'm thinking of writing scenarios for this route and do not want to have to supply an alternative route version along with them.

The route is also set in the era of BR, so it is possible that they weren't there then. (But that still wouldn't really make sense.)
Brave the forest, brave the stone,
Brave the icy winds and fire,
Braved and beat them on my own,
Yet I'm helpless by the river.

Fully agreed Pallent.. I have noticed recently that some of these so called third party improvements (I did one myself to be fair for doncaster to allow background traffic to constantly loop around) simly break your instalation and make it totally incompatible with third party prototypical scenarios. best to get the RW folks to add this in..

Personally Im absolutely loving how steam keeps everything neat and tidy for me and updated..

Why are user mods "So called Third Party" ? Should one say "Not first Party" or "User Mods" ?

I have no interest in Scenarios supplied with Freeware or Payware routes and prefer to create my own Freeroam Only scenarios, using all the mods I have made to tracks, like all the routes on my web site feature.

Further updates from STEAM / RW get checked for what has been installed on that date and anything likely to overwrite any of my thousands of RW files modifications gets restored from one of the pre-Update back-ups.

As for holding a train with the dynamic brake only, I am fully aware that in order to use dynamic brakes the electric motors have to rotate in order to apply reverse current, I have learned 70 years ago riding in Vienna trams, standing next to the tram's driver, pretending to be driving it !
