Yep. Unless you're a student of eligible school, then you can get a discount. The Gimp is a great freeware alternative.

Exactly the same as photoshop. (Except a few terms are different)

You can get huge discounts (currently 80%) if your a qualifying student or if your household has a faculty member at a qualifying college.

Let's see...what's the word for such practices? Oh, yeah! F-R-A-U=D. That's it! Also, this is a great way to get that faculty member fired, even if he has tenure. Educational software discounts exist for...wait for it...educators (and students), not for the general public.

On the other hand, I receive at least four "offers" every week to purchase "OEM" or "deeply discounted" (i.e., pirated, in both cases) software. The folks making such offers are already crooks, so buy illegally from them rather than trying to corrupt a student or teacher.

Slight over reaction.. but it is a forum

To be honest I was thinking more on the lines of your child or household member being involved.. Not a random stranger.. I'll alter my post. Do not buy pirated copies or even suggest it. Its against the forum rules for a start.

There's not the need to give Adobe all that $$ for photobloat , you'll use only a fraction of the features available . If all you're looking to do is a repaint or 2 look at the free option above , or spend a quarter of that 1k and look at Painter from Corel ( and buy an entry level PS device to add to the fun ) and combine with GIMP for a list features that will exceed Photoshop in many areas and at less than half the current asking price.

Explore all your options and have fun
