That's an interesting car. I know it has rotary couplers, but I wonder if the center trough opens up to allow bottom dumping as well. I've never seen a car like this before. After over a hundred years, the basic coal hopper continues to be improved.

Yep the center opens up much like the 5 bay hoppers do but longitudinal. I managed to save a PDF scale drawing for this particular Trinity Rail Car before they removed all the Scale drawing data off their site. I'm a huge fan of coal gonds and hoppers. Not sure how common this type of car is or which railway uses this type of car in service.

Here in North Carolina, I have seen those types of hoppers in TILX and just a few DKPX coal trains. The DKPX one's are usually mixed with the DKPX gons with about 1 to 5 of them. The TILX ones I have seen full coal trains of those.

I have seen these RDL Hoppers on the Otter Tail Valley RR, up in West-Central Minnesota in Fergus Falls. Hoot Lake Plant is where they unload the cars for Otter Tail Power Co. BNSF brings about 30 hoppers at a time from NW of town to the plant on the NE side. Here OTVR is leading the empty TILX hoppers out of Fergus Falls in 2012. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTozMCOFkjk

You didn't stipulate what sim, but Tiger Trains did them ages ago.
