Thread: Re-fueling and Traction Motor control

Default Re-fueling and Traction Motor control

I thought there was at least one engine that uses fuel and you can refuel with Ctrl-F. Is this correct?

Using the "X" or the "C" keys I can change the page displayed on the cab display. One of the pages displayed shows switches for cutting in or out various traction motors. Can you cut one of the traction motors in or out? How is that done?

    To Refuel = LeftCtrl+R

    To change cutout switchers In/Out = RightShift+1 ..... RightShift+6

The Traction Motor Cutout is not fully implemented in game yet (as per ChangeLog.rtf).

As per the ES44DC Operating Manual:
    4. Pressing key position F7 (Motor Cutouts) will display screen 1010–0 (Figure 60). Fourteen (in-game only six so far) soft keys are active on this screen as follows:
    a. Press key positions F1–F6 (SSCO1–6) to manually cut out a faulty speed sensor.
NOTE: For Speed Sensor cut–out, note the following:
    1. Speed sensors do not need to be cut out on cut–out motors.
    2. Speed sensor switches are to be used only to cut out faulty sensors; however, ensure that the sensor is at fault and not that it is indicating a locked axle or excessive wheel slip, etc.
    3. When the Motor and Speed Sensor Cutout switch (Figure 60) is in the CUT OUT position, the speed signal from that speed sensor is ignored. A STATUS message will appear on the SDIS.
    4. A minimum of two motor speed sensors must be operating for the locomotive to load.
CAUTION: It is recommended that motors only be manually cut out with the Engine Control switch in START or ISOLATE position (unit isolated) and the Combined Power handle in IDLE.

    And so on....

    Cheers,
    Doc.

    Doc,
Thank you very much. You answered questions that had us baffled during a TeamSpeak discussion while in a run last night.
Run8 has brought us deeper into the world of running trains than any other program before it.
    Thanks again.

When you cutout a TM on a unit, you also cutout all dynamic braking on that unit.
