    Default External Dispatcher

I downloaded the External Dispatcher, extracted the two files and placed them in the Run8 folder (folder within a folder) but Run8 still shows the old Dispatchers screen.

You need to run the actual External Dispatcher application in order to get it to work. ED like RTS are programs that use Run8 data but have nothing to do with the Run8 software. You will also have to change the setting to allow Run8 to communicate with external dispatcher in order to see it. All of this is mentioned in the External Dispatcher manual inside the External Dispatcher folder.

    Thanks

The External Dispatcher is called "External" dispatcher because it runs separately outside of Run8 but, as Sean has stated, communicates with Run8 so that you can use it to throw switches and see what trains are running. You do not need to install / extract the ED folders and files within Run8 to use them as it is its own separate program.
