Coal train grinding uphill to Dunkstown. Normally, the helpers would be cut off in Elena, but the train has been routed over the longer and more uneven north link branch due to higher-priority traffic taking up the main.

Two dedicated sets of SD40M-2s, one of which is seen here, have displaced the usual SD70Ms assigned to helper duties and excursion protection power. Despite the lower horsepower rating, these purpose-rebuilt helpers are more than up to their task.

As part of a roster recognition program, starting with the SD40M-2, all spartan-cab units are having their noses repainted with chevrons as they are cycled through the shops.

West Coast Transit has been placing a number of GP40PHs back into service on trains in preparation for the busy holidays with many of the P32s going out for rebuild. 4105 is the first of them to re-enter service and is seen leading a train on the San Bernardino line.

MP&N has the most classic look to it with the paint scheme. Not too bright outlandish or unrealistic, but not too dull and boring either.
