According to posts on his Facebook profile, bnsf1959 (Ken Plaza) passed away due to cancer this afternoon. I never knew Ken too well, but he was a great moderator here and kept flamewar after flamewar under control. He will be dearly missed.

Oh no... I'm really sad to hear that.. I'll miss him.
It is with great sadness that I write this...My long-time friend Ken Plaza passed away today after a long battle with pancreatic and intestinal cancer. Ken and I met on Trainsim in 2003. We hit it off right out of the box and became fast friends. We started The Mophouse in 2004..Over the years we have exchanged uncounted Emails, many hundreds of hours on the phone and on Yahoo. We taught each other all about this hobby and shared a huge love for N gauge trains and photography as well. I made more than 1 trip to Chicago over the years..Ken went through a lot these last few years, getting special hearing aids to combat a problem that plagued him since childhood, being forced to retire early from a job he loved at Berwin Med. center and this long fight with cancer...more than enough. I will miss him hugely. ....Prayers for his family..Frank

Very sad news. RIP Ken.....
Godspeed, Ken.
I had the good fortune to meet Ken, when he twice came and railfanned with some of us local boys a few years back.
Another gent who had a real love of railroading.
Giant padlock, or not - Ken was a nice human being.
We'll miss, but not forget you old friend![]()
