Thread: RailDriver for MsTS under Windows 7 (RDTrain Fix)

  1. #1

Default RailDriver for MsTS under Windows 7 (RDTrain Fix)

I'm thinking about to buy RailDriver to use it with MsTS under Windows 7 via RDTrain Fix.

Do you know if RDTrain Fix has some issues with MsTS?

    For example:
    - locos with throttle lever with notches (for example 0% - 25% - 50% - 75% - 100%)
    - locos with throttle lever continues
    - steam locos

Are there others train cab controller for MsTS, besides RailDriver?

PS: RDTrain Fix (http://henkel.homedns.org) allow to use RailDriver with MsTS under Windows Vista/7/8.

Did you browse the Raildriver forum?

Raildriver is it unless you build your own. MSTS has no provison for alternative interfacing.

Go with Open Rails. Raildriver works fine. OR has built in connectivity.

I certainly second ckawahara opinion about going with Open Rails if you plan on purchasing a RailDriver unit.
I own one and it works very well with OR and WIN7.

    RDTrainfix works well in Win7.

Have a separate Win7 partition to run MSTS because OpenRails doesn't work that well with Activity Generator scenarios.

MSTS doesn't like Win 8 or Win 10.

Works better than the original configuration in Win XP.

I am interested about the Activity Generator scenarios....don't want to hijack thread... can you PM me with the issues you've found?
    Would appreciate it. Thanks, Gerry

I know OpenRails and I will use it one day, perhaps, but now I'm interested to use RailDriver with MsTS and I also know that it works via workaround.

On my PC MsTS works with Windows 8 too, I use an nVidia video card, but I don't know if it works with an ATI video card too.

Thanks, it's a very good news.

Does it work also with locos that I wrote in my message above:
    - locos with throttle lever with notches (for example 0% - 25% - 50% - 75% - 100%)
    - locos with throttle lever continues
    - steam locos
    ?

Works with all of the above.

Can't get over 20FPS in Win8 unless MSTS is run windowed.

RD will operate a steam locomotive.

Has RDTrain Fix (MsTS with MsTS Bin) troubles if I switch from one cab to other cab (reverse cab) of same loco?

And if I switch to other cab of other loco?

Are there known issues about RDTrain Fix?

In RDTrain Fix seems that some words aren't the same used in MsTS (translation issues?), so:

"Engine Brake" (RDTrain Fix) = "Loco Brake" (aka "Independent Brake") (MsTS)?

"Service Brake" (RDTrain Fix) = "Dynamic Brake" (MsTS)?

If not, so, what do "Engine Brake" (RDTrain Fix) and "Service Brake" (RDTrain Fix) mean?

Does gear (aka "Range" in RailDriver) small lever work?

Are there known issues about RDTrain Fix?
