I looked on Google for the weather in the Kirov region, only 12.9 degrees C maximum today, and it is the end of summer there. It must be crazy cold in winter. Where I live in Melbourne Australia, we do not even get snow in winter. I cannot imagine living through a Russian winter.

In the Kirov region in the winter the temperature is typically -10 degrees С, but it happens and -40 С.


Now I'll post photos of Vazyuk's winter. This photo was taken in December 2012, December 20, I was drafted into the army, and a few days before my departure, decided to say goodbye to the settlement.

May I ask, what is the purpose of the cars on the middle of the plow train?
And, what is the gauge of the track on these railroads?

Middle cars are designed for storage of snow, then he is thrown in one place. Track gauge is 1520 mm ("russian gauge"). In our settlement forest to the sawmill transported by trucks, ins ome other settlements forest transported by narrow gauge railways (750 mm), but some railroads are closed or on the verge of closing, there are few fully working.

What can you tell us about that model?

2TE10 - one of most widespread diesel locomotive in the formerly USSR. Before late 1990's on our line rides 2ТЭ10Л (2TE10L) (built -n 1961-1977), later activiely rides 2ТЭ10В (2TE10V) (it differs only in body and bogies, built in 1975-1981), they are not so much. Today is the most widespread 2ТЭ10М (2TE10M, built in 1981-1990) - the same as that 2TE10V, but a little better electric equipment. 3TE10M - triple-unit modification of 2TE10M, in 2004 they worked on the our line (sent to Kirov from Izhevsk). Before late 1980's also rides ТЭП10 (TEP10) - passenger one-unit (two cabs) locomotive and TEP10L - one-unit passenger version of 2TE10L (one cab). All this locos equipped 10Д100 (10D100) - 10 cylinder two-stroke diesel engine - 3000 horsepower. 2TЭ10У (2TE10U, built in 1989-1996) - loco with improved diesel engine 10D10M. 2TE10Ut - freight-passenger version, sometimes rides with long-distance passenger trains from Kotlas. 2TE10M-K, 2TE10U-K, 2TE10UtK - rebuilt locos with more modern diesel engine 5D49.
