When you say " Edit " do you mean the ace files or just the cvf or both ?

Open your cab view (cvf) file with a text editor. What do you have for EngineData?

    Code:
     EngineData ( SD40 )
There needs to be an engine with the same value as in this element, SD40 for this example. You can ensure this by using the same name as the engine file.

If your engine (.eng) file has

    Code:
    Engine ( BNSF_GP35_2614

    	CabView ( sd40.cvf )
change your cab view file to have

    Code:
     EngineData ( BNSF_GP35_2614 )
If these are the same then Cab Editor will work even if all other engines are stored using Train Store.

for the record i mean rearanging controls to make a cabview for a loco i have for my use only. and im a little confused by your explanaton there. when i firsst opened it it said the engine data was hudson, so i changed it to both the loco's file name and the name of the cabview file and it still locked up.help.jpghelp1.jpg

Your engine name contains spaces and needs to be within double quotes.

    Try

    Code:
    EngineData ( "CN U-2-G 6218" )
