Why you are using MSTS RE instead of TSRE?

I'm happy I was able to contribute to the community but this isn't just a list. This is the settings file I use.
You can drop it in your TSRE folder and use it. Change yours by adding a 1 to the end, ie. settings.txt1, if you want to save it.
Some of the changes from default are,
TSRE opens "full" screen. This can be problematic as it can't be minimized, only saved and closed using the route button. I have two monitors so it's not a big deal. You can change it by commenting out fullscreen.
I have it set to load all W files. It will show all route errors in the Errors and Messages window under the tools dropdown. I have used the FixAll option without any problems but it's commented out, just in case.
Mouse speed has been slowed down to more of a human speed, like drinking decaf.
Camera speed is about 20 mph, +shift is about 100 and +ctrl kicks in the afterburner so you can get somewhere in a hurry.
I changed the shape viewer and CE windows to more of a sky blue background.
You'll have to add your own mapbox key.
Goku is still working on some of the features so I imagine a lot of the settings have no current function.

Some reasons why I would consider using MSTS RE

a) Signal linking: I find the MSTS RE method more intuitive and easier for double crossovers

b) Sound sources: in MSTS RE sound sources can be heard giving a good idea where to place them

Terrain editing: I have encountered various bugs while using the embankment/cutting tools in TSRE. On some routes they essentially can't be used anymore. The same issues are not seen in MSTS RE

Agree, Pete. The PDF is as essential as the Vone book was in 2003... and at a better price!

I also have a few items on terrain maps that I'd like to eventually contribute.

Honest, if you guys help me out... I will put into this document what you want and need, as time permits. PM's do work. I emptied out my forum mail box. If you happen to have my real email... send it there.

NOTE: I'm not a big user of TSRE beyond "consist editing" so I rely on the community to give me tips about route building.

I realize that back in Mike Vone's time the community was big enough to charge for stuff. I have no such delusions... so this will remain free and public work using github to keep it open and available instead of being private and potentially lost over time like so many other things.

I realize that the master document format is 'unusual' but it relies on free open source tools such as ruby and ascii-doctor-pdf to create the document... meaning you don't have to rely on owning Microsoft Word. Anyone can work on this or grab a copy and make their own edits... I consider this a "community document".
