Is it really, that doesn't sound too encouraging then really, as it's already 11 years old, and counting.

Someone on the American forum suggested Aerofly FS 2 was worth looking at, it's early access on Steam, but, a little bit expensive to obtain everything all at once, however, it's developed by some Germans and looks extremely promising, they have also released a lot of free content to encourage folks to get interested in their offering, so, another Simulator worth keeping an eye on, if, FSW goes loop the loop downwards......

I tried Aerofly a few months ago but wasn't that impressed - heavy jets that lifted off the runway at 80 knots and no feel of inertia that you get flying the big iron in FS9 or FSX. There's a bit more detail emerging over at Flightsim Dot Com about FSW and I'm somewhat dismayed to read apparently the initial release won't include any form of jet airliner types - prop planes only. When I fly I live to operate the big stuff - DC10's, Tristars, the 'Buses and 7n7's. Not really into general aviation. We will see.

    Hardly Surprising Vern?

Flight Simmers have had lots of development on FS over the years and When Lockheed bought it and made P3D there was a LOT of debate as to whether they'd actually done much? X-Plane has it's followers and has developed consistently too. FS's big difference is that most "upgrades" are to the virtual world. Once you've invested in that you can buy whatever takes your interest to fly in that. 3rd Party providers have produced almost real simulations of airliners and a few have produced such good flight models for light aircraft that I see little or no reason to invest in a new Sim at all.

Of course dangle "NEW" in front of many folk and they turn into crack cocaine addicts?! Like them they get the initial high .....followed by the inevitable "come down". Still as the old saying goes "A fool and his money are easily parted...."

I often wonder what would have happened if MSTS2 (second and final version) had been released. We heard so much about "World of Rails" and other development but it was all hinted at and veiled by "Non-Disclosure" clauses for those who actually got to see it . No fan of DTG but their "announce every development" policy still leaves little more substance than ace studios secretive "coming soon ....but we can't disclose any details" stance.

I actually laughed out loud at the point in the promo video where they said they REALLY valued customer feedback

Anyone here feeling "Valued" .....Fanbois need not reply

I agree with this,I have the free demo of xplane 11 and it will be hard to beat, its really beautiful.

Thanks Bruce, but......... pass pass pass.

    I have Il-2 Sturmovik 1946 & Cliffs Of Dover.

I like a bit of killing with my flying.

Must admit I do miss the older combat sims such as Longbow 2 or the various Microprose ones. Maybe DTG will do an offshoot...

In the meantime I get my thrills, sorry kills, removing heads and upper torsos with my explosive shotgun in Fallout 4!

Vern, Longbow 2 is going way back buddy.

Might sound churlish, Vern. But i wouldn't buy anything that DTG releases from here on in.

Great games, the Fallout series. I am not too keen on the post apocalyptic creepie crawlies though.

I'd love a 'modern day' version of B17 Flying Fortress The Mighty 8th!

Even further back is Tornado, one of the first flight sims I cut my teeth on. Good graphics for the time, but tough as nails (especially flying NOE and dropping the runway denial pack) and the missions took longer to plan than actually fly, sometimes.

Best thing about those old sims was the manuals, huge tomes with hours of reading, which in some cases must have pushed the limits of what could be published in the public domain.

I was never into flightsims Vern. 1946 & Cliffs are the first ones i have ever owned and only then because they were dirt cheap. Bought them in Feb, discovered the BAT mod for 1946 which is superb and have been playing both constantly since.

Yeah the old games had some superb paper manuals. Loved the way they all came in a big box, with disc and manual inside. They actually felt like you were getting your monies worth.
