Thread: Fictional Railroads 8

  1. #1

    Default Fictional Railroads 8

Starting a new thread.... previous volume 7 is here: https://www.trainsim.com/vbts/showth...al-Railroads-7

Everyone needs to follow the guidelines, starting with what's been in place for years and years :

    https://www.trainsim.com/vbts/showth...sting-tutorial!)

Summarized for those with shorter attention spans:

    • If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all
    • If you have something you're not supposed to have in the first place, don't post pictures of it
    • Post the name of the route and whose equipment you're showing off -- that eliminates 90% of the comments

If you still feel the urge to be ultra-critical, feel free to use PM's or post to a site like Facebook where that type of activity is more welcome.

Those who can't follow the spirit and intent of these three simple rules may find themselves facing a one-week penalty application of the brakes...

Also, as with all threads in the screen shot forum, comments and posts without photos are subject to removal at some point in the future.

    Enjoy, and be safe!

Been testing some trains lately over my MEC Mountain Division, trying to get a some what accurate tonnage rating for the "modern day" operation. I think I got it a little close. GP38/40's will have a 700 tonnage rating per unit, from Bartlett to Crawfords. That is an average of 50 cars, with six units, so that's not bad at all for the operation over the heavy grade.

New Westlink F40PHM-2 #204 is seen testing on a San Diego bound train blasting out of Oceanside with an F59PHI as backup power.

A long way from home, Western Maine Rail Company is testing a set of SD70AH's on the Mountain Division. Today's RY-2 train has a consist of an SD70AH, SD30ECO, SD30ECO, SD70AH combo, pulling just over 3,000 trailing tons. (15 loads, 35 empties). So far the crews are giving the okay. A set of four SD70M-2's are currently in order, and being painted. Just waiting for the management to give the okay on these units being able to go onto customer sidings, until then, the "local" work will be handled by the switch job of RZ-2/ZO-2 and OZ-1/ZR-1, using GP38's (straights, -2's and -3's) and GP20ECO's.
