The rest of the RS-2s had MU and maroon paint, the 1500 was the only one without and with the black switcher scheme!

    Hi,

Don't feel bad Paul (Precht), I did something similar with the NYS&W RS-1's before I found out the odd numbered ones were for passenger service and also did not have MU connections.

    Cool Some wanderings...

Took a jaunt around Central Sonoma County and Northern Marin county during the mid-day rush...Captured these scenes below.

1 & 2) SMART 133, a local, makes the stop at Windsor Depot and departs. A couple of charters are laying over at the bus end of the depot as the train arrives.

    3) SMART 334, a limited-express is seen between San Rafael and Novato at the Hannah Ranch Road crossing. Meanwhile a heavy manifest makes its way West (Compass South) on Main 3.

4 & 5) These are in reverse order. An Amtrak California set is in place of the normal Wine Train. Seen at Chateau St. Jean, the 7 car set with a "heritage" unit on the rear, is just departing. In the second scene, the Amtrak-sub Wine Train is seen passing the Healdsburg storage yard for the local waste management company.

    Regards,

    -Frank C.

    *** Nit Picker alert ***

I seem to recall that the FT's and F2's had manually operated radiator shutters, the fireman had to take regular trips to make certain that the temperatures were right. He's going to be really happy about having to walk back 7 units to do this......

    Great shots, though!
