Installed it and read the addons installation instructions here...............

Cannot get the loco to move though, pressing all the correct keys and zilch.

Some of the UK locos you have to put the reverser forward then back quickly (F, V) to set the AWS which is cancelled with Insert. You may also have to hit spacebar to turn off the Driver's Reminder Appliance (IMHO the most pointless piece of safety kit ever retro-fitted to UK traction). The beauty of OpenBVE is that so long as the routes themselves have the correct file structure they can go anywhere - I have some installed under OpenBVE, some under Mackoy and a few under BVE4. You just use the menu to navigate to the csv or rw file. Same with the trains.

It *is* worth persevering with, get West Midlands up and running with the Class 37 and you won't regret it. Equally with both Mike and Bruce reporting difficulty, perhaps the author(s) need to review the installation procedure (particularly the various utilities which need to be gathered) to make it a bit more seamless?

I've downloaded and installed the core program from HERE.
And I also downloaded and correctly "unpackaged" a set of UK signals, found HERE.
I also downloaded a UK route from HERE....it's one I used many millennia ago (the second one down.)

Everything appears to be installed correctly and in their proper folders/subfolders.

But I can't find the locomotives/stock suggested......
"Traction on the route is: Class 156, Class 153, and freight is DRS Class 20, Class 33 and Class 37 and EWS Class 37, Class 47 and Class 66.".

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have the Class 37 + 6x MK1's on the ECML route.

Try here Bruce, use the menu top left for types of stock.

One aspect of Steve Thomas' 3D models for OpenBVE (Steve runs the BVE4Trains website that haverfordwest mentions above) is that they only run properly under the an older version of OpenBVE (1.2.14.0). Steve mentions that on his site and I've tested his models (and after you try them it's hard to go back to the cab-only versions that you are familiar with from the old BVE2/4 days) and they do indeed only work properly on 1.2.14.0, NOT the the latest version available on this page. Fortunately, Steve has archived the older version on his website right on his homepage; get it here. To repeat, his 3D models with external views only work properly on the older version of OpenBVE, though they do work on the new one (just not properly )

Good news is that you can have both versions on your computer, just in different folders. I run the Network West Midlands (far and away the best BVE route ever, and with Steve's 3D models a real treat!). Now for some really exciting news: Steve has been working on an extension of Network West Midlands which you can read about and download on his Work in Progress page here. He's really fleshed out Maybank and has even added a TMD extension to same. But don't take my word for it, high thee there and go grab it!

Finally, I can't help but chuckle at how this open-source, freeware trainsim has completely out-shown the DTG stuff (both TS20XX and TSW) in every way except for the graphics engine. Physics are, in my opinion, some of the very best out there - and that includes Run8. The sim runs glass smooth even on average equipment. And they don't charge a penny for it ...

Sorry Vern & OBTS i missed your posts earlier, where did you get the West Midlands Network from please Vern ?

The only link i have, the download button is non functional.

Train is UserData\LegacyContent\Train\BR_Class37-416_passenger_openBVE OBTS.

I tried customising the in game controls and now, although i reverted them to default.

The keystrokes are not activating the controls.

EDIT Took your advice thanks very much Dave and reverted to v1.2.14.0

Class 37 worked first time and i went for a quick drive up the ECML.

Yeah i have left the keystroke settings alone now thanks OBTS.

Since reverting to the earlier version of OpenBVE.

I have my favourite route installed and running from way back as well, Edinburgh - Aberdeen.
