    Exclamation BVE "Newbee"

Downloaded BVE v5.7.6224.40815 couple of days ago. It installed very easy, but I can't get the train to move an inch! Googled for a instructional paper but found nothing on how to actually run the program. I pressed about every key and all I got was the horn sound for the Japanese electric train that came with the BVE. I must say the graphics are fantastic for such a small install.

I'd appreciate some guidance here guys!

    Thanks.

    seaboardairline:
Making sure you know, the Bve5 program that you have downloaded,
is very a much a "left hand fork" that veers severely away from the Bve1~Bve2~Bve4~OpenBve program evolution.
The Bve5 trains+routes are written in a different format from both the prior Bve1+Bve2+Bve4 and latest OpenBve addons,
so there is a very limited library of addons for Bve5, mostly Japanese.

Recommend downloading\installing the latest version of OpenBve,
    obts.wikia.com/
    obts.wikia.com/AddOns
    obts.wikia.com/UnitedStates
as it is compatible with a very large worldwide+US library of legacy trains+routes originally made for Bve1+Bve2+Bve4,
and the latest trains+routes for OpenBve than take advantage of extended capabilities.
The OpenBve program pack from the above link,
    includes sample trains+routes,
    install instructions for the program+addons,
and keyboard instructions for driving each train.

    Enjoy,
    OBTS

    Hello!

I have been playing BVE5 for a long time. There are hundreds of routes made for it. Mostly Japanese yes, but they exist. A lot of the routes make use of ATS or ATC systems, so a bit of work may be required to get the train going. If you are still interested I'd love to help you find more routes and work the trains. You are welcome to watch me play many BVE5 routes live on YouTube here https://www.youtube.com/user/KKolbet?feature=mhee

    Good luck!

    Thanks.
I have to Agree with OBTS. I have BVE 2, 4, And 5 installed on my Windows XP desktop! On my Vista Laptop, only OpenBVE works
correctly. I can run the BVE5 routes fine under WinXP. OpenBVE works best with BVE 4 and OpenBVE routes but does handle BVE 2
routes too. I think OpenBVE is much better and OpenRails or Run8! The only thing I haven't learned is making my own Routes for it!
