Fireman: Approach to Lake Hurst, reduce the speed!

Engineer-instructor (he will lead the work of locomotive crews in place of accident, he decided operate the breakdown train during small time): fine, we have time.

On the passenger tracks of Lake Hurst - one unit of 2TE10V diesel locomtoive and commuter EMU ER1 - sometimes on the non-electrified lines uses EMU with diesel loco as commuter train:

Soundtrack: Killing Joke - Eighties. 1980s - interesting and difficult time, in the "Western World" begins era of neoconservatism (rise to power of Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher), in the Soviet Union in early 1980s "era of magnificent funeral" - dies general secretaries Leonid Brezhnev, Yuri Andropov and Konstantin Chernenko, minister of defence Dmitriy Ustinov, prime minister Alexey Kosygin, ideological secretary Mikhail Suslov. Late 1980s in the USSR it'a "perestroika", attempt of renovation, but which leads to destruction of the Soviet Union. Simultaneously in 1980s in the Soviet Union happens some serious railway, radiation and chemical accidents, war in Afghanistan and a few cases, when could starts WWIII (for example NATO military training "Able Archer 83", which Soviet leadership considered as preparation to war).

To this train are loaded chemical reconnaissance APC, decontamination vechiles, mobile radiostations, engineering vechiles:

Lake Hurst yardmaster: How much time you need to loading completion?

Military radio-operator: we must immerse yet 4 vechiles, we hope to spend no more than 30 minutes.

    To be continued...

Soundtrack: Status Quo - In The Army Now. My father was conscripted to the Soviet Armed Forces (Strategic Missile Forces) in 1987 year, this song was already very popular there, sometimes soliders composed our Russian-language parodies to this song. 1980s were very hot years - some part of the Soviet Army fought in Afghanistan, big part waits a potential war in East Germany and Czechoslovakia, someone guarded Soviet border or was on 24-hour combat duty (Air Force, Missile Strategic Forces, Navy, Air Defence Troops), however some troops were used for unusual tasks - construction of civilian roads, railways and objects (railway troops, road troops and even conscript construction battalions inside the civilian ministries!), agricultural works (usually automobile troops), prison guard (internal troops), work of civilian communication lines (in northern Siberian territories) and even work in civilian locomtive crews (conscripts from railway troops, if was lack of civilian locomotive firemen), and of course liquidation of consequences of natural nad technological disasters - for this purpose existed Civil Defence Troops (also were fire departments, where firemen were are conscripts, but it's a was MVD system), but in serious disasters (as an example durin Chernobyl nuclear disaster) could be used any troops. In 1985 Soviet Armed Forces counted 5 380 000 military personnel in active duty, wherein were more than 100 motor-riffle and tank division, minimized during peacetime and replenished in case of mobilization - it's a one of reasons of the USSR fall...
