Default MSTS Win7 Loss of keyboard control?

So I've not touched MSTS for several months due to a lack of interest. I decided to fire up ole MSTS and low and behold the dang keyboard does not work at all anymore in MSTS. I tried reinstalling MSTS using the steam4me tutorials with no luck. Am I going to have to reinstall OS Win 7 at this point? Not sure if Win 7 updates are too blame or not?

    Hi Robert,
I doubt it's anything to do with Win 7 updates.
Does your keyboard work for other software?
If so, try removing or renaming startup.mpg from the GLOBAL folder.

    Cheers,

Tried all the above. Keyboard works in ORTS and everything else I've used including typing this message.

Many years ago I had a keyboard failure running MSTS using W7. Turns out I hadn’t noticed the caps lock was on. Hope yours is a slap of the forehead like that.

    No joy.

7 inbuilt compatibility says MSTS is not compatible with win 7. No shit Sherlock. No keyboard equals no play.

Can you not go to properties of the MSTS file you use to launch and change the compatability ?

MSTS is incompatible with any OS after Win 98, but that has not prevented it from running on any Windows version up to and including Windows 10. This is with the caveat that it must be installed outside of ANY program files folders.
Beer is not a matter of life or death, it is much more serious than that.

Not come across this in Win 10 but then my experience has largely been firing up the editors. My driving (don't tell anyone... ) has been done in OR.

Off the top of my head, as not posting from home, it may be worth playing with some of the dpi etc. settings in the launch shortcut as there was certainly an issue with the editors if you didn't check (or uncheck, can't remember which) with regard to scaling.

I've tried it all. I give up. Will just have to vacate 40GB of data and wipe the drive clean and reload.
