Thread: DRS: Screenshot thread?

  1. #1

    Default Screenshot thread?

I find myself constantly admiring the beauty of this sim as it slowly grows...

The simple warmness of the graphics even in lower detail levels present such a change from the cold tones of others in the genre.. Beauty in simplicity

As the sunrays and texturing pickup though im seeing some really artful pretty screenshots on steam. Yet im aware that there are alot of people who dont use steam, avoid the screenshots or possibly never knew things look so nice prior to purchase

Would anyone like to share any screenshots to start off?

I'll start off with another preview of the next update:

The blocky terrain is becoming a major obstacle to improving the graphics realism, followed perhaps by the lack of small vegetation and a driver.

The fact that it looks this good even on what is low detail isnt a bad thing though, most games have an all out graphics mode that require powerful PCs and have low detail options as an afterthought

    You've gone the opposite way,

im sure in time we'll end up with photo realism and higher requirements to achieve it. But in its current state, if this was on the detail slider.. Id be both damn happy to play..and buy a more powrful pc when the times right to endulge in the best there is to offer

Im away from my PC at the moment, but my good steam friend IC125 has given me permission to post his from steam -

he uses a low spec laptop and is quite happy DRS runs as good as it does

This is because most of DRS development was done on a 2012 budget laptop with a 2GHz dual-core CPU, 4GB RAM and an integrated AMD GPU which can barely run the sim at 20FPS. I do have a newer laptop now but I'll try to continue offering low quality options for the less performant systems.

Piccie looks really good, driver in cab would be nice but not essential.

Ground textures i like, because they are not all smooth, like a bowling green.

The only thing i have never been happy with, is the platform markers on the trackbed.

But you said they would be moved buddy, so that is good enough for me.

I'll go through the existing routes to make some improvements when the route editor becomes usable enough. The track spacing is too wide to make room for the ill-placed signals and platform markers. Once these are moved to their correct positions I can set the tracks six feet apart.

The tracks do not have to be 6ft apart everywhere Oskari, that is a minimum setting.

If you were modelling an BR-WR route, in many circumstances. You would have a far more generous loading gauge.

Ok, I'll leave the track spacing in the second route alone since it's supposed to be WR whereas the first one is more MR. I'll also change the signals, signal boxes, station infra and some of the station names to be more typical of WR.

Nice one Oskari, you are certainly getting stuck in buddy.

I hope you gather the customer support, sales wise.

That you deserve, for your hard work and listening to your customers.
