    Question Signal Help!!

    Colleagues,

I am placing the signals on the MCOA2 route, in particular the more complex
portion between Seattle & Tacoma. On the NP route, there is a universal
#15 crossover a few miles south of Seattle, north of Black River. I am
using the Searchlight signals at this control point, specifically 2-head
absolutes, 40mph turnout. As my train approaches this control point, I
am seeing the expected green-over-red, basically telling me that I am
lined straight through the plant. But just as I pass the signal, which is
placed a couple of meters ahead of the red triangle on the track, the
signal switches to red-over-red and the game ends.

Outside "King Street" station, I have a similar arrangement at a scissors
crossover and I get past this as expected. This other arrangement uses
gantry signals on a bridge, but these have the same specification as
the mast signals used at the universal crossover.

    Any ideas?

Okay, I found references to this error throughout the forum, going back years, so I took the bull by the
horns and ran the activity in ORTS. No problem, so gentleman, the MCOA2 is going to be my first
    ORTS (only) route.

It must be a bug in MSTS (one of several, and I am running BIN).

I've experienced that situation if the red marker for the signal is too close to the red pole.

Is it possible you've got a phantom signal on your hands? Check steam4me for a better description, but it sounds about right
