    Rick,

    The Illinois Central had a line into E-Town, that crossed the L&N at grade by
    means of two turnouts and then served some industries lying east of the
    L&N mainline. This line was originally to have been part of a coast-coast
    line that C.P.Huntington started with his work on the C&O. What is left of
    the line (if any) is some industry tracks around E-town.

    There was also a tunnel just north of E-town until about 1915 or so when
    Muldraughs Hill was double tracked. This change also eliminated two
    large trestles, the footings & abutments of which could still be seen the
    last time I rode over the line in daylight (SouthWind, 1959). South Tunnel
    is between Portland & Gallatin, TN and is actually two tunnels very close
    together. Another unique feature is the Green River bridge at Munfordville.
    This bridge still uses the original stone piers built before the War of
    Northern Aggression. If I did the track & roads, I would try to do the
    gulch area in Nashville as accurately as I can remember, at least the part
    into the station. Radnor would best be represented by a scaled down
    version, and I have the "J" line, Nashville to Chattanooga on my list.
    I was born in Nashville, 1-24-39, grew up there, got my higher ed. at
    Vanderbilt, and then went to work at AEDC in Tullahoma, TN for 2
    years, and then 34 years on the railroad.

    Rick, if you are interested, I can gen' the terrain and do the tracks and
    most roads. I have all the profiles and I could supply a copy of those
    in a "documents" folder for your use. Now the line has TCS on it, which
    was originally installed around 1954, but it is more of a secondary line
    as far as the brain trust at CSX is concerned. This is largely because
    of the difficulty operating the short line over to Cincinnati. I don't use
    scale rail, but I do use M-tracks to get the curves & turnouts more
    accurate.

    Yes, in Etown they split up the industry now and cut off the interchange between the 2 RR's.
    I have seen the old trestle footings from I-65 before all the vegetation grew.
    The bridge at Munfordsville is so impressive but so is the one over the Columbia River in Nashville.

    Seriously thinking of committing to it since I know the northern area to Park City.

    Are you still using MSTS Route Editor for the process, I have not learned how to use TRES yet and what tdb would you be using?
    What ever tracks are used would want to use berms like Norberts NR tracks for berms like I did on the MONON-2.

    Rick,

    I assume you meant the tsection.dat file. Probably Build 00045_beta used for the
    MCOA2, or I can see if there is a newer one in the library.

    Cumberland River, not Columbia, that is somewhere out in the west. The Duck
    River is at Columbia, TN but that is not L&N territory today. The bridge you
    refer to is probably the one on the freight main through Shelby Park.

    I still use RE because the learning curve for TSRE is steep, and although there is
    a "manual" in the library now, it is really about a year out of date. Goku got into
    a scrape at Elvas Tower and so it is possible he may do more at T-S now. His
    alignment tool is very easy to use and I do use that to align low bridges. I use
    CatMaster to align tall bridges.

    I use berms where they make sense, but that is really part of the detailing. If I
    do the tracks & main roads, then whoever takes it from there has the choice of
    how to handle the R/W contours. I use berms where, for example, a track and
    road are close together & at different elevations. There is a stretch in the Don
    Karch narrow gauge route I am working on where they are so close I use a
    retaining wall for the higher item. This was not exactly how it was done in the
    real world, but it is the best compromise I could come up with. They did use
    masonry walls on a lot of the side-hill cuts in the same area.

    I have gone ahead and digitized the route. I didn't digitize all the tracks in the yards
    (Osbourne in Louisville, Radnor in Nashville) but I did digitize the Glasgow branch and
    the Gallatin steam plant line. I probably need to digitize more of the industries in
    Nashville & Louisville, especially the GE industrial area in Louisville. I used Google
    Earth for this, and also marked the elevation in meters at many points on the line.
    Now I will set it aside unless someone wants me to do the track & main roads so they
    can detail it. Actually if anyone wanted to detail any of the routes I have in the
    bucket list, I would go ahead and do the track & major roads. It would certainly
    provide a number of eastern lines and at least four more western lines, 2 of which
    are abandoned & 1 is now operated by someone besides the original owner.

    The Gallatin steam plant is now gas fired and while the tracks are still in place, they
    were hard to digitize because they are buried in the dirt in many places. The
    digitizing is right on the mark though. I continued the south end to the point just
    below Nashville where the Birmingham & old main lines split. There is a long
    deep cut through Brentwood and my digitizing is only about a meter off the C/L
    of the cut.

    There are a number of industries in Nashville that I could add, as well as a line
    that goes to the Ford glass plant. I guess this still exists, and I worked as a
    waterboy for the painting contractor when it was under construction in 1955.
