    Default Supertrain model found

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHlM30nFT5A

I am shocked to see someone found the filming model from Supertrain and some track. That train deserves better. I remember watching the first episode on NBC in 1979 Express to Terror and then it was gone. I started building a model for train simulator years ago but lost interest and it caused too much trouble here back in 2011. Supertrain was supposed to appear in the 1979-1980 televsion season but Fred silverman rushed it on the air in the middle of the 1978-1979 season and it failed because of being rushed. Engine was said to be an atomic powered steam turbine.

I remember when AHM was offering the Supertrain setup in adds in RMC & Model Railroader. I had a friend who's uncle offered 15G for it but he never got a reply. Somewhere a few years back one of the coaches was offered on an eBay auction. I can't remember seeing it sold.

I recall your diligent efforts to build the Supertrain. Thanks for sharing that video, it was a bittersweet epitaph to a moment of semi-mediocrity in TV history. Some well known faces among those actors...Keenan Wynn, Robert Alda, Edward Andrews; was that Slim Pickens at the controls? And if you look at the full cast over the only 9 episodes, there were lots of very prominent names both then and later, some still very celebrated: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078697...=tt_cl_sm#cast

It's nuts to think it was just sitting there for so long for anyone to come along to grab it for nothing
Granted what would it have been worth ? Film / TV production once done just tosses things away all the time
It's rare that Film / TV models get saved, if at all, but that's Hollywood for ya'
I'm still working on my Supertrain, Blender isn't easy to figure out tho'
I do have the old one stitting on Google Drive still for folks however

I found the ad when it was being sold by AHM after NBC cancelled it. Was in RMC & MR magazines.

1/4 of a million dollar project for a 1/10 the cost !!! WHATTA Bargain !!!
