It's been a while since I played them now Mike, but when they went over to FMod, something horrible happened to the default sounds in ETS2, not so much ATS. Very tinny and seemed to go straight from idle to full revs.

I guess I will need to fire up and take a look though my saved games probably won't work any more!

I agree the conversion to FMOD left the default sound sets in a sorry state. Fortunately, enough time has passed that there are several sound mod creators who've come up with excellent replacements for the defaults and for many mod trucks.

For an idea of how strangely bad the default SCS Software sound mixing is, there's a sound mod for the Iveco Stralis, a truck I drive frequently in ETS2. One of the sound mod experts took the default SCS sounds and just re-mixed the sound set. It's like night and day, for the better.

Thanks Eric. If I can drag myself away from the current Big 3 (Run 8, Snowrunner & TSW) I will take a look.

Vern, first of all what is that horrendous piccie you have as an avatar

I only drive older truck mods, with their own sounds. So no idea if the default truck sounds are good or bad buddy.

I also use the https://ets2.lt/en/sound-fixes-pack-v22-36-1/ mod and have done for a while.

None of it installed at the moment though.

Think this will be worth getting, nice mountainous part of the world.
