Maybe because of all those porn pop-ups!

    So I declined.

However, the game-play doesn't really grab me as I have never been a follower or fan of trucks; in fact, I consider them to be right pain in the posterior when out on the road. (B-Doubles and caravans are a motorist's worst nightmare, IMO).

I'll occasionally dabble, I suppose, but can't see myself becoming as deeply involved as I have been with trains over the past couple of decades.
I apologise most profusely then Bruce, I, like Mike, also have a plethora of ADBlockPlus malware stuff installed on my computer and rarely have any problems with any kind of 3rd party websites, especially, for free simulation game add-ons, etc.

If you aren't into trucking as such, as some of us were/are in real life, then you might not play the game as regularly as we do, and if your interest is in other areas then enjoy those instead, now that you've got the base game you can always go back to it occassionally for something different.

    Cheerz. Steve.

Apology totally unnecessary, Steve. My protection system kicked in and did what it was designed to do, so no dramas at all.

Tell me.....are there rigid trucks available or are we stuck with semi-trailer rigs?

Reason I ask is that I hold what is termed a Heavy Rigid truck license , which I gained way back in 1977 when in the bush-fire brigade in the Blue Mts.. I used to drive the tanker....a six-wheel drive ex-military Studebaker unit with crash gearbox and no power steering!
I never let that endorsement lapse, even after I left the 'Mountains in 1984 for Canberra.

If ATS (or even ETS2) has rigid trucks it would hold more interest for me, I think.

Bruce there is a mod that enables rigid chassis for all default trucks in ETS2

Never seen anything for ATS though.

I've never seen any rigids in ATS, Bruce, I'm not sure that they have built anything for us to drive, and am unsure in the modern era if they are as prevalent on their roads as to other places in the world. I wouldn't mind one of their old-school cement mixers, which would be fun to drive. Whatever there is in the game has probably been exported across as there are European rigids like Mercedes and DAF, plus a few Russian offerings, etc, you can find them on various downloadable websites.

In the States we call them "straight trucks", and they're all over the place running lighter loads. Generally run solo, not in truck/trailer combinations like BDFs in Europe. Sadly, not officially supported in ATS, but there are some mods that have enable dump trucks and the like.

I'd love to have them in-game, particularly if there was an armored truck mod. I used to drive and work off of armored trucks in the 90s. The terminal I worked at had what was considered the largest ever armored straight truck -- a big Navistar (formerly International Harvester) rig with a chassis designed for use with well-drilling rigs and heavy equipment and materials transport. It was built up with an up-armored cab, and armored sleeper box and an armored cargo box. Tandem axles shoved all the way to just ahead of the back bumper to meet weight spread laws, which gave it the turning radius of a country mile. It hauled shipments between the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago and the terminal in Indianapolis, Indiana. It had one twin which ran out of a terminal in Houston, Texas. They never built any others.

The guys in the chase car guarding it once clocked it over 100MPH, fully loaded with paper currency and coin, and it was pulling away faster than the car could keep up. We had some fun back in the day...

You should ask in the SCS forum if someone could create your truck, Eric.
    You never know.

Thanks for the links and info on the rigids, lads. Most appreciated.

I may just have a look at "On The Road" (see your thread, Mike).

Don't talk to me Bruce, don't even look at me.

Pure sexiness on wheels, just started Calais to some island off Italy, 1500 miles.
