    Default NHRR/PRR Senator

A pair of New Haven Alco PA-1 locomotives lead the NH/PRR "Senator" westbound along the New Haven right of way in these images captured circa 1956. En route to Washington DC from Boston, the all-Pennsy stainless steel consist includes coaches, parlor cars, a lunch counter/tavern car and a full diner along with the parlor/lounge/buffet/obs "Martha Washington". The Alcos will be replaced in New Haven by an EP-5 NHRR electric motor, and a PRR GG-1 will take over the train in New York City.

    - Activity inspired in part by content from: the NHRHTA 'Shoreliner', Vol. 41/Issue #2
